Theotokos of the Life-Giving Spring (Η Ζωοδόχος Πηγή)

This icon depicts the Theotokos (Mother of God) as the Life-Giving Spring (Ζωοδόχος Πηγή), holding Christ above a miraculous fountain from which healing waters flow. The faithful are shown receiving grace and healing through her intercession.

The tradition comes from a miraculous spring near Constantinople, where countless healings occurred through the blessing of the Virgin Mary. This feast is celebrated on Bright Friday, the Friday after Pascha, and reminds the faithful that Christ, through His Mother, is the true source of life and salvation.
